Shannon Chapman, Associate

Shannon brings a diverse range of professional experiences and resources to her practice of law. Her career spans from the law, to politics and policy work, to working in corporate environments. She represents clients ranging in size from startups to multi-national companies, and enjoys bringing new ideas to life. In addition to her focus on commercial law, Shannon offers a fresh perspective and focus on real estate, as well as oil and gas law.

A fifth-generation Texan, Shannon was born in Lubbock and raised in Austin. She began her professional career by serving as a Legislative Assistant for members of Congress in Washington, D.C. While there, she worked on legislative initiatives that directly benefited the State of Texas, including the creation of the Department of Homeland Security, billion-dollar transportation projects – including highways and hike-and-bike trails – funding for science and technology endeavors, and the return of the NASA shuttle program to human spaceflight following the Columbia shuttle disaster. After several years in politics, Shannon transitioned to the corporate world, working for a Fortune 500 company in the technology industry. During that time, she came to understand not only the rapid pace of technological growth, but also the challenges corporations face in maintaining the economic health and satisfaction of their workforce in a global market.

In her legal career, Shannon has: worked as a partner in a general litigation and transactional, multijurisdictional law firm located in northern New Mexico; advised clients throughout Texas on business law and contractual related matters; and provided legal policy advice to local government entities in Louisiana. Shannon joined RashChapman in 2018, where she continues to apply her unique upbringing and professional background to better understand the needs of a broad spectrum of clientele and help them achieve their goals.

Prior to returning home to Austin, Shannon and her partner Justin spent two years overlanding – a self-reliant form of travel to remote destinations – driving a built-out Toyota Land Cruiser from Southeast Asia to Africa to Europe. Today, Shannon brings her brand of extreme adaptability, investigative problem-solving, and purposeful passion to clients and colleagues alike. She and Justin are perpetual entrepreneurs and travelers, building businesses and encouraging others to explore the world.
